Upload guidelines

Every listing on MODGRIND is scored out of 100 while you type. The score is not a vanity number: it decides whether you can submit, how fast you are reviewed, and how well the page ranks in search. The same checks run again on the server, so there is no way around them.

The quality score

  • Below 70 — the submit button stays locked. Save a draft and keep improving.
  • 70–84 — goes to the moderation queue (usually reviewed within 24 hours; higher scores are reviewed first).
  • 85+ — publishes instantly for Verified uploaders, gets the “Verified listing” badge and priority placement.

What earns points

  • Original description (12 pts) — we compare your text with Google Play and every other listing. Anything above 30% overlap loses the points; above 60% is an automatic block. Write what the mod actually changes, how it plays, and what breaks.
  • Depth (20 pts) — 250+ words with at least two headings (## What is modded, ## Gameplay, ## Known issues…). 450+ words earns the bonus.
  • Structured details (30 pts) — install steps, tested device, root requirement, version, size, min Android, package name, changelog, Play Store link, developer, 3+ tags.
  • Media (16 pts) — original icon and at least 3 real, non-duplicate screenshots.
  • Trust (11 pts) — direct file-host links only, ideally two mirrors. Shorteners and ad-gates are a hard block.
  • Clean title (6 pts) — the real app name only. We append “MOD APK v1.2 (build name)” for you; “100% working”, emoji and CAPS LOCK lose points.

One game, many builds

Every game has a single hub page (for example /game/nitro-drift-legends). Each mod is a build of that game: pick the existing game in step 1 of the upload form, then give your build a name that says what is different (“Mod menu”, “Lite · Unlimited money”, “No anti-cheat”). Builds are compared side by side on the game page and each keeps its own page, mirrors and reviews.

  • An identical build (same build name and version) is rejected automatically — update the existing one or upload a newer version instead.
  • Builds scoring under 70 stay live for visitors but are not indexed by Google until improved; a description copied from a sibling build is pointed at that sibling. Describe what your build does differently.
  • The best pick (quality × “works” votes × downloads) is what catalog grids show; earn it by testing, documenting and keeping the build current.

Do

  • Test the mod on a real device and say which one (“Galaxy S23 · Android 14”).
  • Use the original app icon and at least three clear screenshots showing the modded features.
  • List every modded feature honestly (“Unlimited money”, “Mod menu”, “No ads”…).
  • Answer the FAQ builder — those answers appear as rich results in Google.
  • Keep versions up to date — we watch Google Play and notify you when the game updates. Updating within 7 days earns a freshness bonus.
  • Answer questions on your mod page; unanswered questions hurt conversion.

Don't

  • No URL shorteners, ad-gates, paywalls, “password in Telegram” or survey links. Every mirror is reachability-checked and virus-scanned.
  • No repacks with injected adware, miners or trackers — a malicious scan result hides the mod instantly.
  • No duplicate uploads of a build that is already on the site — improve the existing page, post a review or report a broken link instead. A genuinely different mod of the same game is welcome as a new build.
  • No copied Play Store descriptions, no AI-spun filler, no keyword stuffing.
  • No adult or hateful content.

Reputation & levels

Reputation is earned only through actions that make the site better. It is visible on your profile and on the leaderboard.

  • +20 to +35 — Upload approved (bonus for quality score above 70)
  • +15 — Updated a mod after Google Play shipped a new version
  • +5 — Every 5 “helpful” votes on one of your reviews
  • −5 — A download link confirmed broken
  • −10 — Upload rejected
  • −40 — Mod removed for a policy violation
  • Newcomer (0+) — Every upload is reviewed by staff.
  • Contributor (50+) — Priority in the review queue.
  • Verified Uploader (300+) — Uploads scoring 85+ go live instantly.
  • Elite Modder (1000+) — Featured on the leaderboard and homepage.

Structured rejections

If a moderator rejects your upload you receive a specific reason (copied description, thin content, missing media, bad links, outdated version, duplicate, spammy title, not working, policy). Fix it and resubmit — rejections are not permanent, but each one costs 10 reputation.
